So after getting together and discussing with our lecturer, we decided as a group that its best to iron the Networking elements of our game first, and then building the game-play features for the individual clients from that skeleton. We started by completing the networking tutorial provided by our lecturer, in order to get an understanding of how the server would work with the ASGE engine, and then we went on to build our own version for Race to Mars!
